Forever grieving the loss of fallen days
When the sun touched the tops of my bare feet
Leaving it's mark
(As if I were important)
I find my eyes closed and my mind stagnant
When the coffee is perking and the paper boy is making his rounds
I sleep the day away
And I'm breathing my life in the shadows...

Forever grieving the loss of fallen days
When the sun touched the tops of my bare feet
Leaving it's mark
(As if I were important)

This is beautiful, beautiful...
i can truely feel the life of this poem,
it brings me back to younger days that i miss
thanks for writing it!

"My eyes to you are no longer windows for the viewing"
And I'm breathing my life in the shadows...

Best part of the poem, right there. I love the imagery you used.

"The question is: wouldn't mama be proud?
There's a silver lining in the corporate cloud
And the pretty post that you're taking as an NCO
Of the Great Pretender
I should sure think so
Wouldn't mama be proud?"

-Elliott Smith
This definitely puts a picture in my mind...well written :)

You got your toecaps reinforced with steel
Hard-wearing sole and heel
Make those tired feet feel like new
Take your pick, black or brown
Great for the country or the man in town
You're gonna need a quality shoe
